As you go about you striving to reach your fat loss goals, you may read up on various diets out there designed to help you realize true success. One such diet is referred to as clean eating.

What is this diet and will it help you see the results you desire?

Let’s go over what you need to know.

What Is Clean Eating?

While it’s name may make you think clean eating is all about eating foods that have been washed, this isn’t the case. While it’s obviously recommended that you wash all produce before you eat it, clean eating means eating foods in their natural state.

A food becomes ‘dirty’ when it’s been altered some way by man.

For example, an apple is clean. An apple pie is dirty. A bowl of plain oatmeal is clean. An oat granola bar is dirty. A piece of chicken is clean. Chicken fingers? Dirty.

The notion of this diet is that by eating foods that are 100% pure, natural, and healthy, you’ll automatically lose weight.

Will Clean Eating Produce Weight Loss Results?

So is this correct? Will clean eating really help you see the results you’re after?

The biggest issue with clean eating is it doesn’t take into account calories. While chances are you will consume fewer calories if you cut out all the processed foods in your diet, it’s still very possible to consume too many calories eating clean foods like nuts, nut butters, oils, avocado’s, and higher calorie cuts of beef or salmon.

Do you need to avoid these foods? Definitely not. They should be part of a healthy diet plan. But, you do need to focus on monitoring how much you eat and how many calories you consume.

If you pair calorie control with clean eating, then you have a home-run diet plan that will definitely produce results.

So keep this in mind. Clean eating can be good, but only when used effectively.
